Title: Quantum Technology in Space #1

Speaker: 김세순 박사(Dr. Saesun Kim) (Keysight)

Date & Time: 2025-12-16 (Tue) 16:0017:00

Location: 과학관 B131호(Room B131, Science Hall)

Abstract:

Journey with us into the cutting-edge developments of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) as we explore the integration of quantum technology in space missions. Dive deep into the intricacies of the Cold Atom Laboratory (CAL), understand the precision of deep space atomic clocks (DSAC) for space navigation, Deep Space Optical Communication (DSOC) based on superconducting detector and unravel the potential of Rydberg sensors for remote broadband sensing. We explore their significance in enhancing our understanding of quantum mechanics and gravity and their applications in geophysics, space missions, navigation, and precise timekeeping.

Title: Quantum Technology in Space #2

Speaker: 김한익 박사(Dr. Hanik Kim) (KAIST 인공위성연구소 SaTReC)

Date & Time: 2025-12-16 (Tue) 17:0018:00

Location: 과학관 B131호(Room B131, Science Hall)

Abstract:

Satellite technologies for quantum communication and quantum computing are being explored for advanced space applications. Quantum computing enables the solution of complex optimization problems in spacecraft operations, such as attitude control and mission planning, while quantum communication satellites are concurrently being developed by multiple international institutions. The connection between quantum-based optimization methods and the mission optimization of the Active Debris Removal (ADR) satellite under development at SaTReC is analyzed. In addition, the mission characteristics, development approaches, and protocol types of quantum communication satellites are summarized.
